The Herb Garden was started in 1992. Enclosed by trees, shrubs and walls, with narrow paths, the Herb Garden is planted informally with a wide range of herbs and cottage garden plants. There are four main beds, edged with box.
There are another two beds on either side of a camomile path that are now lined with Ilex crenata, a response to a persistent problem with 'box blight', a fungus that Buxus sempervirens Suffruticosa seems particularly susceptable.
The roses on the central arch are 'Mme Alfred Carriere'.
